On the banks
of the River Erne, set right in the heart of the Fermanagh Lakeland,
lies Belleek, home of Ireland's oldest pottery producer. For more
than 140 years, this little village has been famous for its distinctive
Parian China. |
| Today, as ever, Belleek holds a special place in the
hearts of china collectors the world over. The Irish Centre is the
largest importer of Belleek in the United States. |

The Belleek
Company designed and created a Belleek High Cross exclusively for
Mary Reilly, Irish Centre owner, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary
of the boutique.
"The High Cross
is the best known symbol of early Christianity in Ireland," Reilly
notes. "High Crosses are decorated with rich carvings of saints
and scriptural scenes."

Belleek is known
the world over for its Irish craftsmanship. They use materials and
techniques handed down from generation to generation. Some of the
products they make include clocks, lamps, vases, baskets, cache-pots,
dinner sets, teapots, figurines and special pieces, such as the
Irish and Marriage Blessing plates.

| Mary
Reilly observes, "If you hold a piece of this china up to the light,
you will see how translucent it is." That is true art! |
